What is linux?

Linux is a word used as an umbrella term for a selection of diffrent opperating systems similar to macOS or windows.

A linux system is an opperating system (OS) that is open-source and in the bacckground similar to unix systems

Linux or GNU/Linux is in other words a collection of systems for computers that are free to use and edit however you want!

Why would you want to use linux?

Linux is free to use and usually lets you see the code that it runs, this means that it is free and safer then non-foss systems.
Linux is here to stay, it is used globally for many diffrent reasons so development will continue long into the future.
Linux is easy to modify, you can in otherwords change exactly whatever you want in your linux system!

Misconseptions about linux

Linux is often thought of as difficult to use. If you select the right version (see below for a guide) your grandperents could use it!
Linux is sometimes seen as a tool for criminals. A criminal could just as well use windows or macOS!
Linux is not usable for videogames. That is simply not true, there are many ways to play any games on linux!

I think you might enjoy ubuntu, it's one of the most common user-friendly beginer linux distros!

Get ubuntu here! Then put it on a usb stick and restart your computer!

While your computer is starting look for a very quick message saying something about a keyboard key, reboot and press it repeatedly untill you see a menu. Next select your usb stick and simply wait!
